Communal Areas

Las Palmas offers great outside areas for both sun and shade seekers while capturing the magic of the island within our own little space. We are proud to share the features that make Las Palmas especially relaxing and welcoming, especially for extended guests of a month or longer.

Our rooftop terrace has a refreshing dipping pool accessible to our guests 24 hours a day. The rooftop is spacious and provides areas of quiet to read and spots to greet the morning sun while doing yoga or chatting with other guests. Hammocks continually sway in the gentle ocean breeze, tempting an afternoon siesta. Our open-air communal kitchen is fully equipped for any kind of culinary adventure, big or small, or to simply reheat leftovers. There are tables and chairs for afternoon guacamole or happy hour! Soak in the sun on our sun-lounges or find shade on our beach beds. The rooftop can be a great alternative to the sand and salt of the beach. A breathtaking island sunset is just steps away from your room.

The rooftop is also a haven for morning conversation over a cup of good coffee in our communal kitchen. Many guests enjoy coming up from their rooms to meet each other and chit-chat, touch bases online, share travels or plans before going out on their daily adventures. Our guests themselves create an interesting international flavor. Travelers of all ages and backgrounds; couples, families and singles; working and retired. Some are here only for a few days between other jaunts and others stay for several weeks. Diversity is what they share. Many guests have found new friends, shared golf carts and meals. Laugh, listen and share your stories, if you choose. If you're not into socializing, don't worry, we have many areas and 'nooks' throughout our hotel for those who seek solitude. Feel free to browse our library of books and magazines - use the dominoes, board games and playing cards during your stay. Get in touch with home on your laptop or device with our great wifi.

The Moon Deck is our newest edition. One floor above our kitchen. It boasts 2 covered areas, one over the bed swing and one over a nice sitting area. The stairway is steep on the west side of the kitchen, so be careful with the top step.

We have a big shaded deck on our second floor, overlooking the market and neighborhood. Some of our guests are particularly fond of this area, to sit and people watch, or enjoy the breeze. You'll often find someone reading or taking a siesta on the futon.

Hotel Las Palmas has a welcoming, friendly atmosphere. The feeling is comfortable and homey, and our location is unbeatable. During the day, our street (Guerrero) feels like a friendly local neighborhood, which includes a golf cart rental, post office, the municipal market, loncherias and even a Mexican cantina down the road! All of these business establishments close before sundown. Now many food carts set up in the evening offering great food at a reasonable price. We're a block from the ocean and beaches and a half a block from Hidalgo Ave (the main street full of restaurants and live music). We are a short walk from a grocery store and the town square where there are often celebrations, food, and music going on.

Our courtyard is a lush tropical garden area. Rooms open to the lush greenery, the brilliant colours of Hibiscus and a towering traveler palm. This is also where you'll find one of us, in or around the "office". If you've never been to Mexico or the island before, we have maps and travel guides to help you plan trips, or can offer our personal experience on where to go, what to do and what to eat. If you're just into doing your own thing, grab a beach towel and be on your way. We know that your vacation is about what you want!
